Parathyroid Carcinoma: Update on Pathogenesis and Therapy

چکیده
Parathyroid carcinoma (PC) is a very rare endocrine cancer with aggressive behavior, high metastatic potential, and poor prognosis. Surgical resection of affected gland(s) other involved structures the elective therapy. Pre-operative intra-operative differential diagnosis benign parathyroid adenoma remains challenge. The lack clear pre-operative does not allow one, in many cases, to choose correct surgical approach malignant PC, increasing persistence, recurrence rate, risk metastases. An initial wrong adenoma, minimally invasive parathyroidectomy, associated over 50% occurrence metastases after surgery. Genetic testing could help identifying patients at congenital PC (i.e., CDC73 gene) driving choice neck surgery extension. Targeted effective treatments, than surgery, for advanced are needed. pathogenesis carcinogenesis still largely unknown. In last few years, molecular techniques allowed researchers identify various genetic abnormalities epigenetic features characterizing which be crucial selecting targets developing novel targeted therapeutic agents. We reviewed current findings genetics, epigenetics, proteomics state-of-the-art therapies.

An Update on the Pathogenesis and Pathology of Hepatocellular Carcinoma
Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is second only to carcinoma of the pancreas in being the most lethal form of human cancer. Almost all patients die within 6-7 months after the diagnosis. This is especially true in areas of high endemicity. This dismal prognosis is due to lack of reliable biomarkers that permit early diagnosis, resistance of the tumour to chemotherapy and the underlying diffuse li...

Infantile hemangiomas (IHs) are the most common vascular tumors of childhood, affecting ∼5% of all infants. Although most lesions proliferate and then involute with minimal consequence, a significant minority can be disfiguring, functionally significant, or, rarely, lifethreatening. Recent discoveries concerning hemangioma pathogenesis provide both an improved understanding and more optimal app...
